Overview
The Government Affairs Director (US) will play a key role advancing the interests of Dabble in all government and legislative affairs related to the daily fantasy sports industry. This role is essential in maintaining our compliance with US regulations, shaping policy engagement strategies, monitoring relevant legislation and regulations and actively participating in lobbying efforts. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of government relations, legislative processes in the US, and compliance requirements in the sports gaming/wagering industries.

Responsibilities

Government Affairs & Advocacy

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with government officials, regulatory agencies, advocacy groups, and industry stakeholders
  • Work with management to develop and implement public affairs strategies that align with the company’s business objectives and enhance its reputation in the US regulatory and public policy landscape
  • Participate in policy formation and advocating for policies and initiatives that benefit the DFS industry

Industry Representation & Lobbying

  • Represent Dabble in lobbying associations, industry coalitions, and trade groups, ensuring that the company’s interests are effectively communicated
  • Primarily this will occur through Dabble’s membership of the Coalition for Fantasy Sports but may extend to other groups
  • Participate in lobbying events, conferences, hearings, and public policy forums to advance the company’s policy objectives. Including frequent travel within the US
  • Work with external lobbyists, consultants, and advocacy groups to develop and execute lobbying strategies at the state and federal levels

US Legislation & Policy Monitoring

  • Track, analyze, and report on legislative and regulatory developments related to daily fantasy sports, online sports betting and i-gaming at the federal and state levels
  • Provide regular updates to leadership on key regulatory changes, risks, and potential impacts on the DFS industry
  • Prepare briefings and position papers on emerging issues, helping the company anticipate and respond to legislative trends

Regulatory Monitoring & Compliance

  • Work with Dabble’s compliance and legal teams to interpret regulatory requirements, assess impacts on business operations, and drive internal policy adherence – all of which is to ensure compliance with US federal, state, and local laws applicable to daily fantasy sports
  • Prepare and submit reports, documentation, and licensing applications as required by regulatory authorities
  • Monitor Dabble’s licence conditions in regulated states and ensure other Dabble teams meet their reporting requirements (e.g. submitting finance/audit reports in certain states)

Strategic Communication & Issue Management

  • Collaborate with the corporate communications team to develop messaging strategies related to government and regulatory affairs
  • Receive and direct external inquiries from government representatives, industry partners, and media as needed. Noting all public communications are made by the CEO
  • Assist leadership in crisis management and issue resolution as relevant to government affairs matters, ensuring the company’s position is clearly and effectively conveyed

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, law, media communications, or a related field
  • Demonstrated depth of knowledge of the legislative and regulatory landscape surrounding. sports betting, fantasy sports and online gaming in the US
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in government affairs, regulatory compliance or lobbying
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distil regulatory information into clear, actionable insights
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects across a broad remit and regulatory landscape
  • Experience working with or for government agencies that regulate gaming, wagering, online entertainment and/or sports integrity
  • An existing network within state and federal legislative bodies or relevant industry associations

Remuneration

The advertised salary for this position is $150,000 USD - $180,000 USD + benefits with room to be flexible.
