Job Description

MUST HAVES:

  1. Bachelor's Degree computer science, artificial intelligence, informatics or closely related field
  2. 3 or more years relevant Machine Learning Engineer Experience
  3. Healthcare Expertise: Understanding of healthcare regulations and standards, and familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, including integrating machine learning models with these systems.
  4. Experience in managing end-to-end ML lifecycle.
  5. Experience in managing automation with Terraform.
  6. Containerization technologies (e.g., Docker) or container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes).
  7. CI/CD tools (e.g., Github Actions).
  8. Programming languages and frameworks (e.g., Python, R, SQL).
  9. Deep understanding of coding, architecture, and deployment processes
  10. Strong understanding of critical performance metrics.
  11. Extensive experience in predictive modeling, LLMs, and NLP.
  12. Exhibit the ability to effectively articulate the advantages and applications of the RAG framework with LLMs

PREFERRED:

  1. Masters preferred
  2. Proficiency in Containerization Technologies: Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or similar tools.
  3. Certification(s) in Machine Learning a plus

Job Description:
Seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to join KECK Medicine of USC for a high-impact, contract-to-hire role. The position requires deploying and maintaining ML models in production, collaborating across data science and DevOps teams, and developing scalable ML pipelines with healthcare compliance. The ideal candidate brings deep healthcare knowledge, strong deployment expertise, and hands-on experience with modern ML technologies and frameworks.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Deploy and maintain production-grade ML models with real-time inference
  • Design scalable ML infrastructures on-prem or using AWS/GCP/Azure
  • Lead engineering efforts in ML/GenAI model workflows and LLM optimization
  • Build AI pipelines covering ingestion, preprocessing, and retrieval
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (data science, DevOps, analytics)
  • Implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines for ML models (GitHub Actions)
  • Set up monitoring/logging solutions for model/system health
  • Apply version control practices to ML code and artifacts
  • Ensure systems meet security, compliance, and healthcare data standards
  • Maintain detailed documentation for MLOps processes and configurations

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, AI, Informatics, or related field
  • 3+ years as a Machine Learning Engineer
  • Healthcare expertise (regulations, standards, and EHR system integration)
  • Experience managing end-to-end ML lifecycle
