General Statement of Duties:
The employee will perform a variety of tasks involving semi-skilled equipment operation and landscaping tasks in the maintenance of varied Town grounds including the out-parcel properties owned by the Town. 
Distinguishing Features of the Class:
The Parks and Grounds General Laborer is responsible for ground’s maintenance including mowing, planting,
edging, trimming, blowing of leaves/pine straw, mulching, watering, and trash removal. Parks work includes
preparation of athletic fields. Work includes assisting with the spraying of chemicals, cleaning, and routine
maintenance of equipment and vehicles and assisting with set up, clean up, and tear down for Town events.
Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Parks Superintendent.

Physical Demands:
Must be able to perform the basic life operational functions for climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. Work subjects the employee to inside and outside environmental conditions. Qualified applicants must be able to perform manual labor, as well as semi-skilled duties, and abide by safety rules and regulations.   Must be able to perform medium to heavy work, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.  Must possess the visual acuity to operate equipment and vehicles, to operate hand tools and lawn mowers, and to make visual inspections of work assigned and completed.

Additional Information:

• This position is deemed essential, meaning that job performance is required during severe weather events and other emergencies, which may include physically reporting to work during non-routine times and working modified/extended hours.
