Real Estate Title Agent I

Job Type: Contract (Till 06/12/2026, with high possibility of extension)

Location: Jackson, MI 49201

Work Arrangement: Hybrid (In-office: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday | Remote: Wednesday, Friday)

Position Overview:

Client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Real Estate Title Agent I to join our team. The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of conveyance documents and land-related contracts, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of land rights. This role involves conducting diligent title research, reviewing legal documents, and supporting real estate efforts with precise documentation and analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive due diligence on various land-related conveyance documents, including fee simple deeds, rights-of-way, leases, easements, licenses, permits, and releases.
  • Conduct internal and external research to verify the accuracy and completeness of land rights and identify deficiencies requiring curative actions.
  • Interpret and analyze land legal descriptions and settlement instruments.
  • Utilize courthouse and government office records to perform land title research and prepare chain of title reports.
  • Plan and organize workload effectively, adjust to changing priorities, and work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Apply client’s established policies, procedures, and processes to ensure compliance and accuracy in all real estate and title-related work.
  • Prepare and maintain spreadsheets and documentation to support real estate transactions and project tracking.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the Right of Way/Real Estate industry.
  • At least 1 year of experience working as a Title Agent or in a similar capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of settlement instruments, contract terms, and land legal descriptions.
  • Proven ability to conduct proficient title research using courthouse and government records.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
