Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

This is an opportunity to learn and grow in an exciting, evolving media research environment. The role will be responsible for analyzing viewership data to deliver insights that drive audience and business development for NBC Universal’s Local Media division.

• Create and maintain station sales inventory and estimates based on Nielsen and Comscore audience data for all properties which include NBC, Telemundo, NBC Sports Regional Networks, COZI & TeleXitos. Implement this data for new programming, sports, and specials across all our assigned markets
• Team regularly supports over 200 sellers with 40-50 ad hoc sales requests per week, analyzing and interpreting audience data across the NBCU Owned Television Stations division to support our sales organization (NBC, TEL, RSN, COZI & TELX) and digital properties
• Conduct analyses to understand the consumer and establish competitive advantages
• Team supports over 30 local owned stations providing backup for market research leads when needed
• Support insights into emerging industry measurement across NBCU Local property’s various platforms
• Manage the implementation of any new Nielsen and Comscore data and their impact in our inventory system
• Ability to handle roadblocks of the inventory system and figuring out solutions
• Collaborate with our Sales Operation team regarding inventory system testing for new and improved features
• Contribute new methods of improvement and development of a new sales system involving Nielsen and Comscore and providing a more efficient workflow
• Support Sales teams in the development of insights and presentations to engage advertisers and their agencies

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
• Has significant interest in research, advertising, or in a media outlet
• Some knowledge of television industry in relation to impressions/ratings and sales
• Efficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, macros, advanced formatting)

Eligibility Requirements

• Must be willing to work in New York, NY
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

Desired Characteristics

• Able to learn new software in a short time and can problem solve on their own.
• Highly organized and detail oriented, with ability to work under pressure, handle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a team and with management and sales staff
• Experience with creating and maintaining station sales estimates (in a system such as Donovan/MediaOcean, Wide Orbit Media Sales, MediaLine or Strata)
• Exceptional writing and presentation skills
• Familiarity with Nielsen data (including applicable software such as NLTV, NNTV, NPower,) and other syndicated media research sources such as Scarborough, Simmons, POLK Automotive and Kantar
• Effective analytical skills, able to analyze qualitative and quantitative data with client needs in mind
• Interest in television and media with the desire to develop skills for further growth
  

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the NYC office a minimum of three days per week

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
